FOTD: 04/06/13

I've always loved combining warm and bright hues. So far, this one's the most wearable of all the combinations I've done. The pics did not do justice for the look at all! Maybe I should put on the colors a wee bit heavier the next time around so it would register much better on cam. Anyway, tell me what you think on the comments section. Keep scrolling for the list of products I used for today's look.

Miranda Kerr look

Saw Michelle Phan's video 3 days ago on How to Look Like Miranda Kerr, the lady I always describe as 'an Angel on Earth', and I know many of you would agree with me. I love her face (and her rocking body) so much I'd do anything to look like her. And make up is the closest way possible for me to achieve that, well, somehow.. Or not.

So what do you think? Yay or nay? Please don't be harsh. You gotta admit though, the dimples looked pretty convincing. Oh how I wish I really do have 'em!

REVIEW: ELF Waterproof Eyeliners

Eye liner is probably one of the items that are stapled in every make up junkie's kits. With the right quality, it can definitely amp up any kind of eye look. Today, I'm reviewing the ELF Waterproof Eye Liners. It comes in 8 shades, and below are some of the best ones (for me).

HITS:
  • the felt tip is quite fine, makes it easier to create thinner lines.
  • the slightly curved shape of the pen gives you better control and precision.
  • it goes on smoothly.
  • it's offered in a variety of colours. It also comes in brown, which I heard works perfectly for filling the eye brows.
  • it's very pigmented.
  • It's cheap! For Php 129.75, I consider this a steal!

MISSES:
  • it dries out fast. You have to shake it first to get the real colour on to your eyes.
  • the felt tip gets misshapen after several uses. As you can see in the picture above.
  • it is not waterproof. It smudges with a few drops of water.
  • you really do have to set it with powder, especially if you're the type that tends to get oily lids, otherwise, it will smudge on the top of the crease.

REVIEW: ELF 'Beauty School' Eyeliner Set

A lot of girls love rocking eyeliners, it can definitely make or break a look. I have tried different types of eye liners. There's felt tip, pencil, brush, pen and so many other forms. Personally, I prefer the liquid ones with a rigid tip for control and better precision. Kinda like the ones from this set I just got from ELF Cosmetics.

HITS:
  • it has a fancy looking packaging. Yeah, it probably wouldn't matter once you open it, but it's still nice to purchase a product with a nice packaging.
  • the built in sharpener for both eyeliner pencils is a huge plus.
  • the liquid liners are pigmented, especially the Navy Blue one.
  • the liquid liners do not smudge and stays on all day.
  • it's cheap! Bought mine for only Php. 299.00

MISS:
  • the 'Brightening eyeliner pencil' (which is basically just a regular black eyeliner pencil) does not glide on smoothly as promised in the packaging and it's not pigmented, you do have to go on over and over to achieve a really opaque black. However, the Shimmer eyeliner pencil works really well.

Here are the swatches:

TIP: Apply the black eye liner pencil first then trace it with the liquid one for a more intense colour. It will also prevent it from smudging.

REVIEW: ELF 100-piece Palette ('12 Spring Collection)

I've been practicing eye make up recently, but all I have in my mini collection are eye-shadow duos. So I looked up cheap but good quality eye-shadow palettes and this one always comes up. I agree with what most reviewers said. It is indeed a great palette for starters. PRICE: Php. 899.00

HITS:
  • every color you'll need is in this palette.
  • the white and cream tones on the left side are great for highlighting.
  • the colors are arranged properly. The colors belonging in the same shades are lined up in the same row.
  • the white container makes it look expensive.
  • unlike other palettes, this one comes with a mirror (located behind the ELF logo).

MISSES:
  • the lighter colors are a bit chalky.
  • you might need a primer to make some colors show up.
  • most colors are not blend-able.
  • the white container indeed looks nice, but it's not sturdy, like it could break almost instantly once it's accidentally dropped.

Below are the swatches for some of the darker tones.
